Louis Chenevert is the former CEO of United Technologies Corporation. He remains one of the most successful heads of this company. Louis Chenevert was born in Canada. He went to HEC Montreal where he earned his bachelor’s degree in production management. He spent about 14 years at General Motors before moving to Pratt &Whitney. After serving in the company for six years, he was promoted to the position of the president. Due to his achievement with this company, he won various awards in 2009, which included Honor Award given by the National Building Museum. He earned an honorary doctorate from his Alma Mater in 2011 as a recognition for his work in the aerospace industry. He was also named as “Person of the Year” by American magazine known as Aviation Week & Space Technology.
Louis Chenevert made two important contributions when he joined the company. He invested in technology and the employees. He realized that these were the two crucial factors that would improve the company in the short term and long term. One of his achievements in developing technology was the manufacturing of the geared turbofan jet engine which is one of the most widely used jet engines by the U.S military due to low noise and fuel efficiency.
